It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a Fun Afternoon!

My son's big cousin invited him to his birthday party this month--- and it was at the most UNIQUE venue-- The Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum in Cape May!

We're in Central Jersey so this was a bit of a hike, but it was TOTALLY worthwhile for so many reasons. I feel like most little kids are fascinated by planes. Heck, even I am still fascinated by planes and how they work. Seeing these big vehicles up close was really fantastic and my toddler enjoyed running from plane to plane in the museum hangar.

As we arrived, we were pointed a the party room with an adorable old-fashioned soda shop vibe. We enjoyed pizza and cake with the birthday boy and then we were all turned loose to explore the museum at our own pace.

Visitors get face to face with fighter jets, helicopters and even a boat in this historical venue! Many of the vehicles are even set-up so guests can step inside or even sit in the cockpit! All the kids at the party loved climbing in and out of each exhibit and I said a prayer of gratitude that my claustrophobic self didn't have to fly in any of these tight spaces for my country. You'll walk away with even more respect for them!

There are lots of planes to explore in the hangar, and even a few outside-- but if you want to come on a rainy day, you'll still have plenty to see and do. Next to the museum is a well curated gift shop that included toys and historical gifts, hats, t-shirts-- the normal gift shop selections. We bought our toddler a set of die-cast mini planes that he was thrilled to bring home, along with a sign featuring MATER from Disney's CARS that we were surprised to find in there!

Whether you have boys, girls or both-- this place is a hit for the whole family and kids of any age ! Strollers are welcome and there was plenty of room around the exhibits and while there were other people there, you had lots of space to yourself. I'm so glad we went-- and it wasn't on my radar as a toddler potential activity at all! A great surprise-- I hope you get to go with your family too!
