Visit the Scarecrows at Peddler’s Village

Peddler’s Village is out in Lahaska, PA and currently has over 150 scarecrows on display throughout their shops!

We first visited Peddler’s Village this summer to check out their summer sand sculptures which were FANTASTIC.  Ever since we left that day, my little guy started talking about coming back to take pictures of their scarecrows and they did not disappoint!  

From September 8th thru October 26th, families can stroll the village and see the handmade scarecrows entered into a special contest by local residents.  Passerbys can even vote for their favorite one through October 13th via the Peddler’s Village mobile app to help their favorite creator win a prize.  

Some of the scarecrows are on the scary side, but plenty of them are just plain fun!  My little dude so enjoyed the journey of discovering the different characters.  If seeing the Scarecrows inspires you to make your own, they are holding Scarecrow making workshops on September 20th and 27th.  While we didn’t participate in the workshops, we saw many families working together on their scarecrows!

While you are there, don’t forget to pop into the Visitor and Event Center to check out the Pet Photography Competition (up until October 19th) and stroll into some of the shops!  Our favorites are Fizzy Mama (the old fashioned Soda Bar with coffees, mocktails, special sodas and other treats), jaZams (the toy store of course!), Mama Hawks Kitchen and Coffee (great coffee for mom and dad!), Nina’s Waffles and Ice Cream (self-explanatory!), Pieces (a store of wall to wall puzzles!),The Lahaska Bookshop (because you never have enough books!), Snugglebunny Boutique (for unique kids clothes) and of course, Giggleberry Fair – an indoor play center with a huge water table, merry-go-round, playground AND arcade.

Peddler’s Village is a fun day for all ages and we are definitely returning later in the year.  They have an apple festival coming up in November and a Gingerbread House contest in December!  How cool!
